Delivering sports sessions with a mindful approach

About SportsfulMinds

Hi, I’m Stevie Doolan, the proud director of SportsfulMinds.

My journey in teaching PE began at just 18, through an apprenticeship that sparked my passion for coaching. Over the years, I’ve honed a unique coaching philosophy that goes beyond the physical – emphasising the vital mental and emotional benefits of PE. I firmly believe that when sports are delivered with mindfulness and care, children engage more meaningfully, creating a foundation for lifelong wellness. By fostering an inclusive, calm, and welcoming environment, we make sports less intimidating and more irresistible for kids of all abilities.

The idea for SportsfulMinds was born when I realized this mindful approach resonated not just with me but also with fellow coaches, educators, and parents. Together, we’re championing the belief that sports can empower children holistically – nurturing their bodies, minds, and confidence.

Currently, we’re running activity camps and afterschool clubs at Harbour Primary School in Newhaven, a place close to my heart as their full-time PE coach. These camps are designed to offer an inclusive, fun-filled environment where kids aged 5-11 can explore a variety of sports and mindful activities. While the sports change daily, our thoughtful and supportive approach stays the same. Our dedicated coaches are here to ensure every child feels supported, engaged, and excited to participate.

If you’re curious about whether our camps are the right fit for your child, or if you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly at stvdlncoaching@outlook.com. I’d be happy to help!

  • We open the doors to our activity camps at 8:45 where you will be met by a member of staff to register. Children should be picked up between 3:00 and 3:15. You can pickup from where you dropped off!

  • We currently run our camps at Harbour Primary School. We have access to both outside areas and inside areas in the event of bad weather. Our sports sessions take place in the school hall, playgrounds and field.

  • Your child should bring; a water bottle (preferably refillable), a healthy packed lunch, suitable clothing for the weather circumstances.

We will use this to contact you should we require.
